Clerks filmmaker and comic book enthusiast Kevin Smith had harsh words for Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice just earlier this week. Though on his second time around, it seems the star liked the film a bit more.
In a recent Instagram post, the director wrote he "actually found heart" in Batman v Superman, despite previous comments that Batman v Superman "didn't really have a heart."
"It's in the viewer," Smith said. "And the viewer I watched the blockbuster with the second time was all agog, eyes as big as saucers."
In a second showing with his longtime friend Jason Mewes, Smith had a moment that "elevated" the film for him. "When the winged New Gods nasties attack Batman and take him down, Jay (age 40) and I (age 45) simultaneously looked at one another and whispered reverently 'ParaDemons.'"
"It was a beautiful moment shared by two lifelong fanboys who were delighted to see their childhood flash before their eyes."
In the same Instagram post, Smith also admitted that he snuck Mewes into the upcoming episode of The Flash that he's directing. Not only does Mewes have a scripted line, but he'll also show up as "a masked super villain." Smith's episode of The Flash will air in May.
